Bamboo rod making classes Spring & Summer 2010 schedule Blue Ridge, Georgia (90 minutes north of Atlanta)
We teach more new makers every year than anyone else, and our experience will show in YOUR finished fly rod. What separates these classes from many others, is that you will actually complete your rod during our class. That's COMPLETE - a rod of your choosing, your signature under three coats of varnish, in a bag, in a tube, with a label, ready to hit the water!
Each year would-be craftsman travel from around the world to study with the most prolific teacher of rodmaking working today. Let Bill Oyster guide you personally through the process of creating your very own custom bamboo fly rod. Each student works at their own solid maple work bench which is outfitted with an arsenal of the highest quality tools, such as Lie-Nielson planes and Bellinger planing forms. In fact, these are the very same tools and methods used to create every Oyster bamboo rod. Our year-round trout fishing will afford you the opportunity to put your new rod to good use. This, after all, is the true test of a complete rod making class. If you don't leave with a rod that's ready to fish, then you didn't get complete instruction...period! At Oyster Bamboo we make sure you finish what you start, the crafting of an instant heirloom.
2010 6-DAY ROD MAKING CLASSES (complete your very own rod from a raw culm to a ready-to-fish fly rod.)

The whole experience was first class! Making cane rods is something I've wanted to do for several years. With so many intricate steps, I would think it would be virtually impossible to go it alone on your first try and come out with a good looking rod. It was your instruction, patience, and attention to detail that allowed me to come away with a rod that I can be proud of for the rest of my life. Luca T. McKinney, TX
2010 WEEKEND CLASSES two three-day sessions (Friday - Sunday) over two months to a complete and ready to fish bamboo fly rod

So give us a couple of long weekends and we'll give you a rewarding experience that will last a lifetime. At Oyster Bamboo we make sure you finish what you start... the crafting of an instant heirloom. |
"The knowledge I gained from that experience, I do not believe could have been gained without years of trial and error. The hospitality that you, your wife, and son showed us was beyond expectation. I had hopes the class would be a revelation for me, but it went way beyond that." -Aaron Y.
