Bamboo rod making classes 2009 schedule
Gainesville, Georgia (one hour north of Atlanta)
This year Oyster Fine Bamboo Fly Rods is pleased to announce a variety of bamboo fly rod making classes to suit aspiring rod makers from near and far.  In much the same
way that it takes practice and experience to become a great rod maker, it also takes practice and experience to be a great teacher of this craft.  We teach more new makers
every year than anyone else, and our experience will show in YOUR finished fly rod.  What separates these classes from many others, is that you will actually
complete a rod
yourself from start to finish
.  Because some who can, also teach... let Oyster Bamboo show you the way.
Let William S. Oyster guide you personally through the process of creating your very own custom bamboo fly rod.  Each student works at his own solid maple work bench which
is outfitted with an arsenal of tools that would leave any professional rodmaker drooling.  In fact, these are the very same tools used to create every Oyster bamboo rod.  You'll be
provided with the finest tools available such as
Lie-Nielson planes and Bellinger planing forms.  On the seventh day you'll have the option of testing your new rod on one of the
areas beautiful trout streams.
This, after all, is the true test of a complete rod making class.  If you don't leave with a rod that's ready to fish, then you didn't get
complete instruction...period!  At Oyster Bamboo we make sure you finish what you start, the crafting of an instant heirloom.

The whole experience was first class!  Making cane rods is something I've
wanted to do for several years.  With so many intricate steps, I would think
it would be virtually impossible to go it alone on your first try and come out
with a good looking rod.  It was your instruction, patience, and attention to
detail that allowed me to come away with a rod that I can be proud of for
the rest of my life.

"The knowledge I gained from that experience, I do not believe could have been gained without years of trial and error.  The hospitality that you, your wife, and son showed us was beyond
expectation.  I had hopes the class would be a revelation for me, but it went way beyond that."
